A counted-backup-YYYY-MM-DD.json snapshot, or the entries CSV. Both work — the JSON has everything, the CSV has your food log.

Counted can hand the backup to this computer over an encrypted link. No file to move, no account.

Nothing is uploaded.

This page has no server behind it. Your file is read locally and every number is computed in this browser tab.

Check it yourself: open DevTools → Network, then drop your backup. Not one request goes out. Or save this page and open it with your Wi-Fi off — it works exactly the same.

If you tick Remember this file, the backup is kept in this browser's own storage on this computer — so it is still never uploaded, but it does stay on the machine until you clear it. There is a Forget this file button once it loads. Leave the box unticked on a shared or public computer.

You may see a couple of blocked scripts in the console when the page first loads. That's our own web host trying to add its analytics and bot-detection scripts, and this page's Content-Security-Policy refusing them. Nothing to do with your file, and they never run.

  1. On your phone: Counted → Settings → Export & backup.
  2. Tap Back up everything to JSON (or Export entries to CSV).
  3. Send it to this computer however you like — AirDrop, email, a cable, your files app.
  4. Drop it above.
